Hostess - The Golden Parachute by Theamat Hostess - The Golden Parachute by Theamat
This week on The Line it is Drawn, the theme is "A Fond Farewell to Hostess".

This Hostess ad parody was written by my husband, Sam Machado. [link]

I favorited this because I'm writing a parody ad for an issue. Then I realized it was you and thought, "Of course it was!"

Awesome job. A very cool parody of the old Hostess ads.

This was awesome, but super depressing. And not just because it reminded me that I won't be able to get fruit pies anymore...

And I'd totally be in for this being a story arc in Detective.

Aww! Sorry to have depressed you. I went to a CVS and saw the empty hostess shelve the other day... I haven't eaten that stuff in YEARS and I still felt sorry to see it all gone.

Really nailed the vibe of these old ads perfectly!

Also, you got to love it when your piece triggers political debate on a comic site. Some people get a little pissy thinking comics should just be fun escapist fantasies, but it's good to rock the boat and actually say something once in a while.

We'll return to making boob jokes next week folks, don't get so angry. ;)

Yeah, I don't get that! Doesn't anybody remember when comics had a point in the Sunday paper? Heck, even Calvin & Hobbes makes social commentary. Look at Xmen! Friggen xmen! Mutant repression and persecution?!? Anybody? And I'M the buzzkill at the party. Really?

It's all good. If the worst that can be said of my art is that I actually had a POINT to make... Well, that's not so bad! Lol

Thank you for liking my service message. :)

Political! LOL. Great job, Thea! This one really, REALLY reminded me of the old ads and then took a hilariously topical spin.

Thanks Bill! I worked hard to keep my lines rounded for that cartoony feel.
