I've done a study of the Wonder Woman costume this year and by far, this is the design I liked best. It's a mixture of early Jim Lee's design, except for the shield, in which I went with early Brian Bolland.
[link]I find it ironic that in my quest to find the perfect amazonian costume for this character, I had to go back to the artist that began my quest in the first place by putting her in a leather jacket and spandex/stretch jeans. I'm not saying I don't like it, Mr. Lee... I'd wear it, had I the figure. I just like the Greek/Amazon aspect of this costume you had originally envisioned.
And, hey, if Sups doesn't want to be an American Citizen anymore, maybe we can trade up! She looks great in front of Lady Liberty, right?!?
Just a thought.
A few points. Scale. The Statue looks to be just slightly larger the Wonder Woman. The perspective on such a large form would have warped it much more. Also Wonder Woman's fore leg is too thick and the foot is too large.
The pose is a bit too static. It would have been more dynamic to have her twisting or arching up a bit to add more of a sense of movement and drama. However the whipping skirt, cloak, and hair all add a nice sense of movement.
The cloak and shield do a lot to help the composition. This was a very wise move to add more power to the image.
The details on the Statue of Liberty is very nice! The stones are very nice, but again watch your proportions. The stones in relations to the statue, the stones would be huge!
But the image overall is quiet impressive and creates a very patriotic feel. I do feel this is one of your better images. Serious growth here. I think you are on the right track here Thea!
